Once again I am back with more breathtaking revelations into the mysterious and ambiguous world of cryptozoology. And this time, the case is not any little winged people or mysterious out-of-focus ufo footage, but what appears to be a perfectly preserved feotal dragon.

With its smallest detail intact, the baby dragon sits in a jar, pickled since the 1890s. Its little teeth and umbilical cord are almost too real to be true. "It's flawless," says Allistair Mitchell in the United Kingdom's Daily Telegraph newspaper.
Mitchell runs a marketing company in Oxford, UK. His friend David Hart discovered the baby dragon in his garage and passed it to Mitchell to investigate. According to Hart, the metal tin containing the dragon and paperwork were probably left behind by his grandfather who was a porter at the Natural History Museum.
The documents found with it were written in old-fashioned German...

The magnetic pull of the story here, at least for me, I believe is the very subject of the dragon itself. Creatures that, despite regional dissimilarities, have been sighted and purported since earliest known recorded history. Perhaps, if nothing else, the serpentine Chinese dragon was a relative to the sea-serpents mentioned so often in sea-faring logs around the world?
Of course as with anything in the field of cryptozoology, there could be a hundred (possibly more) different ways how this baby dragon could be nothing more than yet another one of those elaborate hoaxes.
However, I believe that just the thought of the possibility of discovering the existence of a creature once thought to be entirely mythical could be the spark to many more discoveries in the future. Just think about it, how many creatures do we know about which are still living out there or had once lived which gave rise to some of the most beautiful and wondrous legends in the world.
Who knows, perhaps someday dragons will grace our biology textbooks along with once-cryptid creatures like the Stellar Sea-Cow, Megamouth Shark, Ceolocanth and even the giant Hoan Kiem Turtle so rare that it was (until recently) believed to be nothing more than a mythical legend.
In a perhaps unrelated case, I managed to discover, on one of my trips to Taiwan, a turtle so huge and ferocious that it was dubbed simply The Dragon Turtle. And indeed, to see it sitting there, in all its monstrous glory, so still that vegetation grew on its ferociously spiked shell was indeed a sight I will not soon forget. It's origins, similar to that of the Hoan Kiem Turtle, were linked to the lake upon which the temple it was confined in was situated.
According to the locals and temple personel, the turtle that lives in the enclosure today, was the very same one that had purportedly descended from the heavens along with a deity the day the temple was build some couple of hundreds of years back.
Some strange things happen in our world all the time, most often under our noses, and it will probably be another century or so before we can truly understand them, if ever...
But until then, let the dragons and their counterparts grace simply our hollywood films and bedtime storybooks.
