(This is for all mothers, and daughters too)
There was once an old widow with so much love to spare,
that she needed to give it to someone in her care.
"A daughter!" she said "I could want nothing more!"
thus she prayed and she prayed from the depths of her core.
And so one day when she chanced upon - in a flower,
a little green child nestled precariously in her bower,
she wasted no time in treating her just like a queen,
the littlest pretty girl that anyone had ever seen.
She defended the child with the strength of a knight,
from beetles who harrassed her in the dead of the night,
from toads - fat and slimy - who would carry her away
and from young teenage boys who would lead her astray.
And so the little child grew in her safe little world,
until one day eventually she was no longer a girl,
but a beautiful young woman now perced on the sill
as she attempted to bend her newly-grown wings to her will
And the old woman cried though she was so full of pride;
she'd been dreading this moment all along deep inside.
For when a little girl has finally grown wings of her own
the time's finally come to tell her to live life on her own.
So the old woman shuffled to her and opened the window
resigned to be - once more - an old lonely widow,
And with gentle kiss told her to "Hurry up! Fly outside!
There's a Garden to explore and the whole World besides!"
But as the young butterfly fluttered away she had said
"Don't cry mother! I shall return to this Garden to Wed."
And the old woman smiled as she sipped tea from a cup
and said to herself "Oh, how fast they grow up!"

PEACE OUT
