...Yet, do thy worst, old Time: despite thy wrong,
my love shall in my verse ever live young.

    ~IN SEARCH OF CHIANG MAI~

    Hey there readers

I have got some exciting and amazing updates that some of you may be interested in. On the 8th to the 15th of July a team of 17 of us (excluding one senior lecturer in anthropology and several student guides) will be taking a flight up to Chiang Mai where, for a week we will be documenting some of the lived experiences of the Thai people in the region. In connecting with several Non-Governmental Organizations (EMPOWER, GABFAI, Impect, AIDSNET and Friends Without Borders to name a few) we hope to be able to shed some light and understand the driving factors that influence some of the disembodied and disempowered individuals of Thailand. In documenting our journey to Chiang Mai, the team has managed to set up a blog whereby all members of this little expedition will post updates daily - some on "hard issues" such as child prostitution and native-people rights in the region, others on perhaps more "tourist friendly" topics such as the GLBTQ Clubbing Scene as well as the (in)famous Muay Thai boxing

As interesting as it sounds though, the trip will not be one that is light-hearted or easy. Despite the tensions that will no doubt arise from lack of sleep because of demanding (but well meaning) editors, video editting and article drafting, the team will also no doubt have to tread lightly as they contend with the volatile politicle atmosphere that has currently enveloped Thailand as a nation. Anyway, if i have managed to capture your interest in any way, please do follow our journey as the 17 of us head off on the 8th of July
    "In Search of Chiang Mai".

    So until next time,

    Sawatdee my dear readers

    Cyren.
